There are a vast number of pools at the various resorts around Disney World. With each resort having more than one pool, it makes the options, of where to swim, abundant!

So as a part of our “Best of the Best” section, we wanted to take some time to talk about which pool we think is best, and why we think so.

For our pick of best pool at a Disney resort, we chose, drumroll please… Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Club!

This gorgeous pool offers a unique sandy beach in one section, with sand across the bottom as well and a zero entry area. The whole pool doesn’t get very deep so it’s perfect for little ones. (Although my fellas are a bit older and they loved it too!) There are beach toys available for sale in the shops in both the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, and some of the meals at Hurricane Hanna’s Grill come in bright green buckets that you can then use to build in the sand.

The sandy part is all the way on the left of this picture. To the right of the sandy pool, you will find that there is a lovely lazy river (but be warned, it is very deep) where you can grab a tube or noodle and spend some time. The artificial current is nice and slow, perfect for floating and relaxing around and around as long as your heart desires.

Then, on the far right, is another pool that has some lovely features, like a couple spas and waterfalls. It’s a bit quieter than the sandy area so this one is the one that adults typically migrate towards.

Finally, adjacent to this quieter pool, we have the piece-de-resistance! A massive pirate ship that contains not one but TWO waterslides! One of the slides even goes over the walkway of Disney’s Boardwalk. (You can just make out the front of the pirate ship in the lower righthand side, almost in the corner of the google maps picture. The long slide is hard to see because it goes through the group of trees that are above and to the right of the ship in the google picture.)

The slides are a lot of fun, with a larger slide for older kids and a smaller slide for younger kids. The smaller slide (pictured to the left) exits into its own designated pool that is away from the sections we discuss above. Whereas the larger slide, you will have to cross the walkway to get to the pirate ship slide entrance and then the slide crosses over the walkway and you splashdown back near the pools we discussed above.

The Yacht and Beach Clubs can be a bit pricey. But this group of pools alone makes it worth it for our family! (Of course there are lots more amazing reasons to stay at one of these resorts. If you’d like more info on the incredible amenities of the deluxe Disney resorts, you can click HERE.)

Lastly, we wanted to point out, that there are a number of resorts that will allow DVC owners to use their pools. Even if DVC owners aren’t staying at that resort (and they are lenient about who all is using their pools). We want to note that Stormalong Bay is the one pool where they will NOT let you do this. In fact, they are pretty strict about who they let in. So you will need to show proof that you are staying at the resort (i.e. let them scan your Magic Band) in order to get into the pool area.

Stormalong Bay is hands down, our favorite pool out of all of the Disney World resorts. We even plan at least a full day to spend here. It makes for a nice relaxing day in between our busy park days.
