Port Orleans Riverside Resort Review

Pulling into the Port Orleans Riverside Resort is like being transported to the gorgeous South with a posh but welcoming atmosphere. Multi-colored buildings, encircled by ornamental railings, peek out from lush vegetation and fragrant flowers.

This past fall we had the opportunity to stay at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort and it was utterly amazing! With all the great resorts at WDW it can be difficult to pick a resort for your next Disney vacation, but this resort needs to top your list. It’s just that unbelievably fantastic!

For our stay, we were in the Alligator Bayou section. Though we would have preferred the Royal Rooms, but they were all booked. However, our rooms were rather lovely. Our room slept five with a cute little bench that folded out into a single bed. My fellas and their cousin fought over who would get to sleep there. 🙂

The swimming pool was so much fun! And with the French Quarter a short boat ride away, we even spent another day over at that resort’s pool.

Water slides and waterfalls and other great aspects make it a pretty amazing place to spend the day. And they often have a Cast Member that leads activities for the kiddos during the day as well. Which means moms and dads can enjoy some poolside relaxation time! Now, if you’d like to see a video of Riverside’s Pool, follow the preceding link and watch our review of this resort.

Also, there are a number of choices when it comes to what to eat, including a lot of Gluten Free options. But we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the beignets at the French Quart side!

You. Have. To. Try. Them.

Seriously, they’re delicious and I’m sure we’ll be making a trip to the French Quarter just to get more of them on our next trip. (If you can’t make it to Port Orleans for the Mickey Beignets, be sure to check out our video. It shows you how to make these scrumptious treats at home!)

Other Things to Do

There are other cool things you can do at the resort. Things like bike riding, fishing, there’s an arcade (one of the largest at any of the Disney resorts). And one of our favorite things, the horse drawn carriage rides!

These gorgeous trips saunter back and forth between Riverside and French Quarter and are absolutely worth every penny! I now wish I could go everywhere in these beautiful carriages!

Now, I think you may have noticed that we completely adore this resort. It quickly became one of our favorites and we already can’t wait to get back. But, if you’d like to read about the other types of resorts Disney has to offer, be sure to check out our articles. We’ve got them on the Deluxe Resorts, the Moderate Resorts, and the Value Resorts. And come back often for other articles, blog posts, and video reviews of different Disney resorts!
